become such an important state in our national politics. how did it get so close? because of obama care. no question. the president's health care plan and the problems with the rollout of the health care plan were an issue late in the campaign. more than half of virginia voters oppose obama care and they broke overwhelmingly for the republican candidate ken cuccinelli. this is why this one got so close at the end. cuccinelli capitalizing on it. how did terry mcauliffe win despite that? more than four in ten voters oppose the tea party movement. you can see the blue. they broke heavily for terry mcauliffe. also a lot of the advertising in the end targeting women voters in the northern virginia suburbs, that's what made the difference. northern virginia suburbs, 60% of virginia voters. say abortion should be legal. there's a lot of advertising, direct mail, radio spent on this. 67% of those breaking for terry mcauliffe. the republicans will say the health care issue worked. democrats will say they managed to push ken cuccinelli out of the mainstream. want to take a quick look at new jerse

predicting, supporters of it had been dreading. the obama administration now releasing enrollment numbers for the first month of the operation, about 79,000 people enrolled through the state exchanges and about 26,000 through the government's what we call a mess of a web site, still a mess. far lower than the half million the obama administration was expecting. difficulties with the site and the controversy over president obama's pledge that americans could keep existing policies really came to a head today. key democratic lawmakers signed onto plans to alter the law. others had what's being described as a turbulent meeting with white house officials. meantime, a republican-led house committee grilled some of the obama administration's tech people responsible for a lot happening. our chi congressional correspondent dana bash washing it unfold up in capitol hill. dana, these hearings today, members of the administration getting sharply grilled by lawmakers. but did we find out much that we didn't already know? >> reporter: a few things. but it was mostly very

of? is he going to dismantel obama care, are we going to go reinvade iraq? what is he about? i think last night's speech was i think a terrific speech as you said, p.j. he's a very likable guy. i instinctively think i could vote for this guy. he's terrific. but he said nothing about what he actually had done in new jersey apart from sandy. he said nothing about his own positions, which on some critical issues are really against the base. this is a guy in favor of gun control. a guy that has just given medical marijuana to children. this is a guy who's really quite out there in many of these issues. and i think he's a guy that some people in the republican base are going to say, we're not going to fall for this again. we want a true believer. we want a ted cruz. we want a paul ryan or a rand paul. we don't want to be bought off by this rich establishment's guy. >> i just want to play what rand paul said kind of evasively taking a jab at the sandy recovery ads featuring the governor. >> some of these ads, people running for office put their mug all over these ads in the middle of a pol
